she was one of the very first people to book us when we announced jac. even though we didn't shoot their wedding, she still managed to put on her wedding dress for me. :) she was so enthusiastic to capture their one year anniversary at this shoot and he was so cool to just go with the flow -- especially when it came time to step in a field of ... something, we're not sure what it was! we started out at UCI... valentine's night

Oh, how romantic to get married on the night of Valentine's Day! Chris and I drove down south to the usual sunny Carlsbad for this event.. only to find looming clouds tempting to dump copious amounts of water below :)  the handsome groom who wasn't afraid of a little mud: Handfield221copy

this is exactly what an engagement shoot is about- getting to know each other and getting comfortable in front of the camera. there were a little camera shy at first, but then they definitely got the hang of it! and now when the wedding comes around, they'll be at ease! :)

they have got some fun things planned for their august wedding, we can't wait to see it! thanks for spending the afternoon with me, guys!

coolest job in the world

so, what do you do?  I'm a food stylist.  a what?  a food stylist.  seriously?  yeah, you think food looks good on screen naturally?  someone has to make it look just so and that someone is me.  are there many of you?

it went something like that when I first spoke to beth.  right then I knew I had to shoot her wedding, i mean when am I going to get the chance to meet another food stylist, right?  and when I found out her fiance taught negotiation at USC I just had to meet this couple.  so it was settled (lucky for me, beth did the negotiating) and  we soon found ourselves wandering the streets of their home town, santa monica, chatting about food, negotiation and all things in between.  we're heading to Napa tomorrow to shoot their wedding, this couple sure knows how to pick their spots!

their trusted and long time friend...a trooper.

they had to catch up on the latest in their respective fields of course.

beth not only makes food look good, but she does justice to these awesome boots as well!

Bp038board_2

the light in their home was perfect!  speaking of perfect, they have the kind of place you could move right into.  I loved the paint, furniture, paintings, fireplace...so, that's food, boots and a home.  beth has great taste!

more evidence beth has great taste!

ticket for two

I have found out there ain't no surer way to find out whether you like people or hate them than to travel with them.
        -Tom Sawyer Abroad

the journey began when callum left the sun burnt shores of merricks beach, australia for an adventure in europe with a couple of his best mates.  what started out as a two month journey quickly turned into a great odyssey, taking callum to turkey, ireland, spain, the uk, france, italy and all points in between.  but his greatest find wasn't a ruin in scotland, or a statue in rome; it was isabelle.  they met in england and before long they were backpacking eupore and becoming the best of friends.   weary of the rode and eager to catch their breath, they made a quick pit-stop in los angeles before heading "home" to australia earlier this week!  after a few thousand miles and many adventures, it's safe to say these two are simply meant to be.
